Google is back again with its second generation of Penguin updates. As witnessed earlier in the first penguin update on April 2012, the target was towards web spam. The penguin 2.0, whose arrival was announced on May 22nd, is primarily towards algorithm updates. The impact of penguin 1.0 on web spam is said to have influenced 3.1% of the entire websites. The update to penguin 2.0 is also meant to affect all the countries globally in various languages. The only caveat is more the web spam (the higher the percentage) in the language, more would be the blow. With penguin 2.0, Google has entirely altered the algorithmic update now.
Penguin 2.0 unravelling also implies that there will be losers too; the domains, whose visibility has been highly affected. Some of those sites are cheapoair.com, dish.com, salvationarmy.com. reeds.com, etc.org, forlocations.com, kporno.com, 4tube.com, xhamster.com, tube8.com, lifed.com etc. So far, the clusters like games, business, porn, blog/community and others have faced the impacts.
Penguin 2.0 has mostly affected 2.3% of all English-US queries as per the experts. The figure is huge as there are billions of Google searches take place every day. Alongside, other language queries have also not been untouched by 2.0 version. With the change in algorithms now, the webspams would now be more frequently hindered. Speculations suggest this is just the beginning and we can anticipate more penguins which mean further updating/modifications of the algorithms. Algorithms would be updated in keeping with the changes in the web milieu.
Check out these top 25 losers 🙂
You can check it for yourself if you have been affected. If the keyword ranking has gone down from before or if the visitors to your websites have reduced suddenly or if there is any seemingly ranking shift of your keywords, be sure you have been affected. Nevertheless, don’t panic. Here is what you can do if you have been affected by penguin 2.0 and you would be back in business.
Be Cool: You need to calm yourself and pacify believing everything will be okay.
Reanalyze Website Pages: You need to check and determine what the spams and inferior pages are and remove them from your website. Check every existent page on your website and question yourself: is the page adding any value to your website or is it just another unwanted search engine. Remove any such page that litters your website.
Do An Inbound Link Profile Audit: This is to determine certain links which might be impacted by penguin 2.0 and hence, might be decreasing your website rankings. When you have identified those links that need to be scraped, make a request to the webmasters via email to eliminate the existential link(s). Later, you can use Google’s disavow tool to disown the link. In case you are unsure which link to disown, you can seek help from an expert SEO or follow certain guides online.
Start Building Trust Anew: You need to win the trust of Google so that your site is placed at the top of the search results. Analyze the publishers who are in the good books on Google. i.e the sites who are the first in a list of the search result you do with keywords. Contact them and request them to do a blog post for you to garner attention. Once, these sites start voting for you that would imply their confidence in you. This is called link building campaign. Anew. Ensure your new links are of lofty qualities. You need to show your credibility to Google after all the place where you belong!
Penguin 2.0 is an upgrade of the earlier version of the algorithm Google with the same motive and that means the age old spams would be severely under the scanner.

The problem is people still believe in 2005 and its bad SEO techniques. Well this is 2013 and you have to move.
The most important thing is website quality, ask your self “Why your website deserve top ranking?” Does your website is better than your competitor? And what about your website content?
And when your answer is “Yes”, now you can start SEO practices
You are right!
